Creative Industries: Sector Vision 2023

The UK government's Creative Industries Sector Vision 2023 is a joint plan between the government and the creative industries to drive growth, build talent, and develop skills. The vision is to make the UK the world's leading creative economy by 2030, with a £50 billion increase in GVA and one million extra jobs created.

The vision is underpinned by three key pillars:

  • Growth: The government will support the creative industries to grow and scale, both domestically and internationally. This will include measures to boost investment, support exports, and promote collaboration between the creative industries and other sectors.

  • Talent: The government will invest in developing a pipeline of creative talent from all backgrounds and regions of the UK. This will include measures to improve education and training pathways, support creative entrepreneurs, and increase diversity and inclusion in the creative industries.

  • Skills: The government will work with the creative industries to develop a world-class workforce with the skills needed to thrive in the global economy. This will include measures to support skills development throughout people's working lives, meet the needs of new and emerging industries, and ensure that the creative industries workforce is equipped with the latest technologies.

The Creative Industries Sector Vision 2023 sets out a number of specific actions that the government and the creative industries will take to achieve its goals. These include:

  • Creating a Creative Industries Growth Fund: The government will invest £77 million in a new Creative Industries Growth Fund to support businesses to grow and scale. The fund will be used to support a range of activities, including investment in new products and services, marketing and promotion, and international expansion.

  • Establishing Creative Clusters: The government will work with the creative industries to establish creative clusters across the UK. Creative clusters are areas where creative businesses and organizations are concentrated. They can provide a number of benefits for businesses, such as access to talent, networks, and resources.

  • Launching a Creative Careers Campaign: The government will launch a Creative Careers Campaign to promote the creative industries to young people and encourage them to consider a career in the sector. The campaign will highlight the opportunities available in the creative industries and the skills that are required.

  • Developing a Creative Industries Skills Strategy: The government will work with the creative industries to develop a Creative Industries Skills Strategy. The strategy will identify the skills that are needed in the sector and set out how these skills can be developed.
